"The LaFayette Sun" - May 6, 1908:

We received an invitation to the commencement exercises of the Medical Department of the University of Alabama, Mobile. A Chambers County boy, Mr. W. H. Riser, of Milltown, was the valedictorian for the occasion. The Mobile Register of May 2nd, printed his address in full, and stated that at the conclusion he was loudly applauded.

"The LaFayette Sun" - May 5, 1909:

Dr. Riser Coming to Milltown.

It is a source of much pleasure that the friends of Dr. W. H. Riser have in giving him a warm welcome back to his old home to practice medicine at Milltown and surrounding community.
It was after much hesitation and deliberate thought, brought on by the great pressure of his friends that he decided to locate at Milltown for the time being.
Dr. Riser being reared here, we all know the real value of his coming, for in him we find all the qualifications of an upright gentleman, a noble, courteous and liberal citizen who will be a strong pillar in the schools and churches wherever he may reside, and he realizes the duties he owes to his fellowmen, besides administering medicine and making money.
All along his pursuits in study of medicine his high abilities have been marked with honors. He had not been in college at Mobile a great while before his abilities were realized and he was pushed to the front in the Medical Societies of the college and was their representative to the National Convention at Boston, Mass., in 1907.
He went before the Medical Board after his third year in college and secured State license of high grading, graduated at Mobile in 1908 and was immediately appointed a position in the City Hospital at Mobile where he has had rare experience in the treatment of all kinds of complicated diseases, and therefore he enters the medical profession able to cope with any of the common emergencies of mankind.
We will say publicly, as well as privately to strangers here and elsewhere that you may never feel any delicacy in inviting Dr. Riser into your homes on social or professional business.
Dr. Riser having married since we saw him last, we extend to Mrs. Riser a hearty welcome to our town.
