Nellie's obituary shows her name as 'Nellie Belle Harris Witt'. However, she was married to W. B. Harris at the time of her death. Her first husband, and mother of her children, was Johann 'Joe' Witt.

Nellie was the daughter of James Harding and Jeannette (McMillan) Pounds.

She was survived by her children, Mrs. Doris Jeannette Goerke of St. Petersburg, Florida; Milford Johann Witt of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Mildred Nellie Young of Mill Valley, California; step-children, Mrs. Mary Josephine Harwood and Chester Arthur Witt , both of Denver, Colorado; sister, Mrs. Minnie Lillian Ozenbaugh of Lincoln, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, her son, Ralph Dever Witt; sisters, Margaret Pounds, Mrs. Etta Blanche Bessire, Mrs. Myrtle Olive Lewis, Alma Pounds; brothers, Albert Elmer Pounds , and Samuel Harding Pounds.

Services were held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 1960, in Howard's Park Avenue Chapel. Interment was in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.
