Bertha M. Cook Grismer
Bertha M. Grismer died in Missouri River Medical Center at the age of 75 on Jan. 12, 1995. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m., from St. Mary Margaret Catholic Church in Big Sandy.
Bertha was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa on March 8, 1919 to Pearl M. and James H. Pounds. She married Henry R. Cook in Iowa and moved to the Big Sandy area in Dec. 1939. They farmed 29 miles southeast of Big Sandy until the death of her husband in 1973. She moved into Big Sandy in the fall of 1973 and remained there until 1977 when she moved to Bodle, S. D., where she met and married Joe Grismer in July of 1977.
She is survived by her husband and 13 children, sons: Richard Cook, Big Sandy, Ike, Roger and Wade Cook, all of Fort Benton, Sid Cook, Hermiston, Ore., Calvin Cook, Spokane, Wash.; daughters, Delores Axtman, Betty McCoun, and Karen Pearson, all of Fort Benton; Darlene Poindexter, Geraldine; Sue Ann Williams, Big Sandy; Colleen Imberi of Eureka, S. D., and Sharon Grismer of Warden, Wash. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a brother, James, and sister, Helen.
Besides her husband, Henry Cook, three grandchildren preceded her in death.
