Grace Ermina Hogancamp entered this life on Dec. 28, 1928. She was born to Eli and Hazel Holbrook in Monona County, near Castana, Iowa and spent the majority of her childhood and young adult life in Onawa, Iowa. She left this life on Jan. 14, 2003, in Tampa, Fla. where she has lived for the last 25 years and was laid to rest at Curlew Hills in Palm Harbor, Fla. on Jan. 18, 2003. She was the mother of two sons, Dennis P. Hogancamp, who precedes her in death; and a son Donald A. Hogancamp, who lives in Tampa, Fla. She was married on May 20, 1947, and was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 55 years, Herschel B. Hogancamp who lives in Dunedin, Fla.
She has two grandchildren, Courtney Hogancamp of Phoenix, Ariz. and Brandon Hogancamp of Tucson, Ariz., both born to Dennis. In 1954, she and Herschel moved to Lafayette, Ind. where she lived for 24 years and worked as a bookkeeper for DeFouw Chevrolet for 13 years. She was a loyal employee who gained the trust and admiration of her employer and coworkers whom she visited on her many trips to Lafayette. She is preceded in death by her sister Patricia Fore, and brothers Victor Holbrook and Charles Holbrook. Survivors include her sister Dorothy Copeland of Omaha, Neb. and brothers, George Holbrook of Summersville, Mo.; Lawrence Holbrook of Medora, Ind.; and Frank Holbrook of Navarre, Fla. Her family in Onawa includes Jane Ramsey and Evangeline Ramsey, Ron and Judy Hogancamp and Bill and Jill Hogancamp.
She was a very courageous, honest, kind woman who faced adversities head on and without regret. She always placed the needs of her family above her own and taught by example the power we have to touch other's lives.
