William Albert Graves was born on 4 Nov 1888, the second child of twelve, and first son of William A. and Idora McDowell Graves in St. Joseph, Buchanan, Missouri. He died in Ogden, Weber, Utah on 26 Jun 1962 at the home of his son, William Edward Graves. He married Helen or Ethel-Unknown, and fathered a son named Clifford. He married Estella Hazel Hiatt in about 1919 and had two sons, Robert William and William Edward Graves. He raised two step-children, Harry Willis Jerome and Esther F. Jerome. He served in the American Expeditionary Forces, 1st Army, 77th Division, Battery F, 305th Field Artillery, in France in World War I, 1917-1918.
