Diane Kirby Duncan, age 66, passed away August 10, 2011 in an automobile accident while traveling to be with family.

Diane was born September 18, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George T. Kirby and Elsie Smith Kirby. She was raised and attended school in Hunter, Utah. She was sealed to Ardell Duncan October 9, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they have 5 children. Family was the center of Diane's life. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest passion. She looked for every opportunity to plan activities with her family. Diane loved family nights, reunions, birthdays, and attending her grandchildren's activities. She was an active member of the LDS church, where she served faithfully. As a wife, mother and friend, Diane was kind and loving to all she met. Through Diane's selfless service to others, she extended her hands and heart toward others with Christlike love.

After Ardell passed away, Diane married Duane Butler for time in the Salt Lake Temple on June 5, 2010. They shared a strong friendship, and enjoyed 14 happy months together. During this time, they were blessed with many opportunities to continue serving others.

Diane is survived by three sons: Trent (Marilyn), Todd (Tara), Cameron (Julie); two daughters: Tracy (Shaine) Herrin, Kelli (Chad) Christensen; sister Janine (Bruce) Nichols and 18 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother (George Dale Kirby), and first husband, Ardell. The automobile accident also claimed the life of husband, Duane Butler, and granddaughter, Mackenzie Christensen. Family and friends may call Monday, August 15, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, SLC. Funeral services for Diane and Duane will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the Winder Stake Center, 4366 South 1500 East, SLC. Friends may greet the family at 10:00 a.m., with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment: Holladay Memorial Park 4900 South Memory Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kenzie Christensen Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.
