LAID TO REST

Remains of Mrs. Catherine Leonard Interred Monday in Garryowen

The death of Mrs. Catherine C. Leonard, which occurred at Garryowen Saturday night at 6 o’clock occasioned universal regret in this city where she was well known. Mrs. Leonard’s illness was of short duration – members of her family, living at a distance, having visited with her a day or two previous to her death, found her apparently improving from an attack of grip. The grim reaper, however, hovered near, and without struggle the good woman passed peacefully away at the above mentioned hour. Mrs. Leonard was born in Galway, Ireland and was 65 years of age. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Shields of Chicago, Mrs. Hannifan of Omaha and Miss Anna of Garryowen, and three sons, Ed. and William residing on the homestead and Dr. J. J. Leonard of this city. The funeral took place Monday morning at 10 o’clock. Rev. Father Kelly celebrated requiem mass at St. Patrick’s church, Garryowen. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to the cemetery.
