Pioneer Buried At Fort Benton. Mrs. Catherine Connolly Came To Montana On River Steamer In Early Days
Fort Benton, Dec. 27--Funeral services were held Saturday for Catherine Connolly, early settler of this section. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Mrs. Connolly died Christmas morning, having been a sufferer from cancer since 1919, for which she had several operations. With her at the time of her death were her two children, Mary and Aileen.
Mrs. Connolly was born at Alton, Ill., in 1861, and was 63 years of age. She came to Fort Benton on one of the passenger boats when a young woman, and was married about 30 years ago to Martin Connolly, who died in Fort Benton eight years ago. They lived for years on Shonkin creek on the place now owned by Oscar Paul, having moved from this ranch in 1913 when the place was sold.
