Elma Agnes Hegberg, 85, of Forest Lake, formerly of Windom, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, in Portland, Ore.

Surviving are her children, Dennis Hegberg, Linda Raasch, Larry (Renee) Hegberg and Larraine (Mark) Corothers; one sister, Ernstina Baerg, Bingham Lake; 10 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and five step great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the LaCanne Family Funeral Home, Windom.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the LaCanne Family Funeral Home, with the Rev. Galen Kauffman officiating. Burial will be in Voth Cemetery, rural Delft.

Elma Agnes (Wiens) Hegberg was born on July 12, 1926, in Carson Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota, to the late Jacob J. and Ernstina (Pankratz) Wiens. She received her early education in rural District #16 in South Carson Township and then attended Mountain Lake Bible School.

Elma then moved to Oregon and married Paul Richard Hegberg Jr. on June 30, 1946 in Dallas, Oregon. This marriage ended in a divorce and she moved back to Windom, Minnesota in 1960 where she was active in the Mennonite Church in Delft, Minnesota. In 1967, Elma moved to St. Paul, Minnesota to work for the post office from which she retired in 1990 after 23 years of service. She was active in the church in St. Paul and sang with the Sweet Adelines. She took three trips to the Holy Land and traveled extensively in Europe and the United States, including Alaska.

Elma passed away on July 24, 2011 while traveling in Portland, Oregon at the age of 85.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Hegberg, Linda Raasch, Larry (Renee) Hegberg and Laraine (Mark) Corothers; grandchildren, Kristen Beloy, Joey, Nickolas, and Adam Hegberg, Lisa and Lori Wall, EsAstella and Dion Coker, Rachel Franklin, and Erin Hegberg; great-grandchildren, Soverign, Elgin, Emerith, Madaline, Iamay, Mason, Christopher, Jason, Katelynn, Kelliann, Megan, Jillian, Andrew, and Marian; step-grandchildren, Mike and Val; step-great-grandchildren, Holly, Tony, Ryan, Mackinley, and Hunter; step-great-great-grandchildren, Couger, Maisey, Camille, Marcella, and Xavier; one sister, Ernstina Baerg of Bingham Lake and several other relatives.

Elma is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Alex, Menno, Jacob, Ben, and Marvin Wiens; one sister, Linda Peters; one infant sister, Viola; and one great-granddaughter, Angel.
