Georgia A. Dziurzynski née Lucero was born on June 24, 1932 in Guadalupita, New Mexico.
Georgia was the only daughter among six sons of Abelino Lucero and Carlota Archuleta Lucero.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Clarence T. Dziurzynski and children, René Ann and J. Robert Dziurzynski.
Georgia is survived by her eldest son, Eric G. Dziurzynski, grandsons, Jared J. Dziurzynski and son, Drake, Gabriel Dziurzynski and Monnica Gallegos and their daughters, Lillian René and Sarah Jamie and Gregory Dziurzynski and Cheyenne Ortega and their son, Link Clarence, all of Albuquerque. Georgia is survived by her eldest child, Karen Dziurzynski Cox, son-in-law, Patrick J. Cox, grandson, K. Sage Cox of Rio Rancho, NM and her only granddaughter, Georgiana Cox Bowers and her husband, Adam C. Bowers of Albuquerque. Her surviving siblings are older brother, J. Carlos Lucero of Colorado and younger brothers, Robert Lucero and Fred Lucero and sisters-in-law, Mary Lucero and Ramona Lucero, of Albuquerque. Georgia is also survived by her Godchildren, Carla Denerstein, Pamela Lucero, Aileen Lucero and Garth Lucero of Colorado and countless beloved nieces and nephews.
Surviving Dziurzynski in-laws include Dolores Rega of Ohio, Marion and Maryann Dziurzynski, Eugene Dziurzynski, Alice Rugg and Irene White of PA and Patricia and Ron Brant of CA.
Georgia was raised in Las Vegas, NM and graduated from Taos High School. Georgia enjoyed her schooling and the band, where she played many instruments. Georgia briefly attended New Mexico Highlands University and was in the United States Naval Reserve before she worked as a draftsman at Sandia Labs in Albuquerque. Georgia then joined the United States Air Force where she met her husband in Ft. Worth, TX. They married on New Year's Eve in 1958. They were soon joined by Karen and Eric. After they moved back to Albuquerque, they enlarged their family with René and J. Robert.
Georgia was a true patriot and worked in civil service for 35 years at Kirtland AFB aka Sandia AFB and earned "Federal Woman of the Year" before her retirement. Georgia performed many jobs eventually working her way up to a top-secret security clearance with the Defense Nuclear Agency. Georgia was also very involved with the community and served as a Catechism teacher, Marriage Encounter counselor, Liturgy Reader and Eucharistic Minister with both St. Anne's Catholic Church and St. Charles Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Over the years she also performed many duties such as accounting and finance for the Archdiocese of Santa Fé.
Other accomplishments included her work with Toastmasters International where she served in just about every club and state position over the years, from club president to district judge. Georgia never stopped her self-improvement goals and was a life-long learner, up until the loss of her son and husband she was learning to play yet another instrument, the piano.
Over the years she inspired many family members to continue her foundational genealogy research. Her considerable pre-internet research in to the Dziurzynski lineage was published and is available on various family trees online. In addition, her extensive research into the Archuleta and her Lucero heritage research just recently led to the confirmation of a Spanish American ancestor's contribution to America's Independence by the Sons & Daughters of the American Revolution.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, beginning at 10:30 a.m., at French-Wyoming.
