IS DEAD - FUNERAL SERVICES ARE CONDUCTED AT POCAHONTAS THIS MORNING
Funeral services for William H. Spradling, a former resident of Bond Co. & for many
years, agent for the Vandalia Line at Pocahontas, who died at Montserrat, MO,
Thursday night were held this morning from Hall's Undertaking Parlors at Pocahontas.
The body reached Pocahontas this morning & services were held immediately following
with interment at the Robinson cemetery.
William Harvey Spradling was born at Mulberry Grove 09Dec1854 & had he lived until
09Dec, next would have been 70 years of age. He was a son of the late James H. &
Cynthia Spradling, former well known residents of Mulberry Grove. Mr. Spradling
resided in Bond Co. until 16 years ago, when he went to MO to live & had since
resided there. He was married 3 times, his first wife being a Miss Call of Mulberry
Grove, who has passed away, his second wife was Miss Etta Potts, & his third wife
Miss Flo Dever, who with 1 son Edward Spradling of GA & 1 daughter, Mrs. Blanche Day
of Keyesport survives. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Albert M. Spradling of
Mulberry Grove; George Spradling of MO & Harry Spradling whose exact whereabouts
are unknown. Two sisters, Mrs. Dora Call of Fayette Co. & Mrs. Laura Brown of
Tetino, WA also survive.
Mr. Spradling was well known while employed as agent at Pocahontas & has many
friends there. He was taken ill about 4 weeks ago & his death was due to an abscess
on the lung & pleurisy.
