Departed this life 25Nov1881, at Mulberry Grove, IL, John F. Spradling, aged 31 years, 11 months & 7 days, oldest son of James & Cynthia A. Spradling.
It is a sad duty of ours to write this death notice of one who, in life, was highly respected. From his early school boy days to that of his death there was no act of his but that betokened the true gentleman of a noble & generous disposition, & obliging at all times. Sober & industrious, he leaves behind, as a legacy to his loved ones & friends, the memory of a character unsullied by any of earth's contaminating influences. He leaves a wife & 3 small children, a father & mother, 4 brothers & 2 sisters to mourn for him.
And O! when life's short day is done,
Its cures, its pains, its laborers o'er,
Grant, Lord, thru the merits of they Son,
That they may meet to part no more.
