John D. Golla
A life long resident of Portage County, John D. Golla. 75, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Michael's Hospital Sunday evening at 8:30 o'clock. He became ill suddenly Sunday evening at his home at 409 5th Ave. and was taken to the hospital.
A native of the Town of Hull, Mr. Golla was born on May 10, 1892, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Golla. After completing his education, he started to work for the Wisconsin River Division of Consolidated Papers, Inc., in 1910. After 52 years of service, he retired in 1962.
His marriage to Helen Zydlowski took place on Jan. 19, 1920, at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The couple have lived at the present 5th Avenue address since.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Robert Golla, at home, Jerome 308 Walker St, and Eugene, 356 Bukolt Ave.; five daughters. Mrs. Robert (Christine) Pagel and Mrs. Fred (Ramona) Seigel, Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Paul (Madelyn) Landowski, 400 Forest St., N., and Misses Mary and Theresa Golla, at home; two sisters. Misses Erma and Pearl Golla, 917 3rd St., and 22 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dzikoski Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. A general rosary will be said Tuesday evening at 7:45 o'clock.
