ELIZABETH KIRK
Elizabeth W. Fulton Kirk was born Clarion county, Pennsylvania, the 19th day of September, 1824. Was married to John M. Kirk February 29th, 1844. Soon after with her husband she professed her faith in her Savior, uniting with the Associate Presbyterian church. They moved to Iowa in 1852 and to Wayne county in 1856. Here they were identified with the United Presbyterian church in Corydon. To this union eleven children were born, five sons and six daughters, of whom seven are living--three sons and four daughters, viz: James F., Jennie McAvery, Mary Rogers, Homer, Emma Neley, Hettie Bollman, and Hartley T.
The angel of death came at 1:20 o'clock March 5th, 1902. The deceased was 77 yrs., 5 mos., and 14 days of age. She was much loved for charity, kindness and Christian character by all who knew her. A large concourse of friends assembled to pay their last respect to her memory. Her last thoughts were for the comfort and faith of her's and those about her. The summons to depart was hailed with joy, regretting only that her life long companion and family were to remain behind.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm. Murchie of Allerton at the old home on Friday, March 7, at 10 o'clock a.m. and the internment took place the next forenoon at the Corydon cemetery.
