James Jackson Fulton was born in Armstrong county August 25, 1829, and died at the home of his son, M.O. Fulton, near Rimersburg on January 5, 1909 of a complication of diseases and heart failure due to old age. In youth the deceased was united in marriage to Elizabeth Huey, who died in 1861. To this union two children survive, Mrs. Kirk and Geo. Fulton, both living in Iowa. Later he was married to Martha J. Henry who died in 1867 leaving a daughter, now Mrs. Lafayette Phillips, of Porter township, and a son, Mindon O. Fulton of Toby township. Mr. Fulton was married the third time on December 24, 1867 to Mrs. W.H. Johnson, nee Mary Patton, and they have had a very happy life together. On December 24, 1908 his wife died after a brief illness but the husband was not left to mourn his loss long in this world for on Tuesday morning he was called away. Mr. Fulton was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church acting as an elder in the Rimersburg Presbyterian church for many years and was a great worker both in the Sabbath school and church. He was a most excellent neighbor and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted at I o'clock this, Thursday afternoon in the Presbyterian church in Rimersburg by his pastor, Rev. A.P. Bittinger. Interment followed in the cemetery nearby.
