David Saulsbury was the first born son of Thomas Saulsbury 1830–1911 and Isabel Elizabeth Randall 1843–1920. His known siblings were: Ella A Saulsbury 1860–1900; Jesse Saulsbury 1865–1946; Thomas Saulsbury Jr 1868–1941; James (Jim) Irwin Saulsbury 1870–1918; Anna A Saulsbury 1873–1958; Isabel E Saulsbury 1876–1958; Harry Randall Saulsbury 1877–1941;
Harriet Amelia Saulsbury 1879–1957; May Saulsbury 1884–1966; and Fern Saulsbury 1886–1964.

On 19 Oct, 1887 he became the groom of Permelia Jane "Jane" Beckett in Santa Barbara, California. From this marriage was born the following known children: Edna May Saulsbury 1888–1937; Winona Saulsbury 1890–1977; Ernest Guy Saulsbury 1894–1970; Amos Leo Saulsbury 1896–1965; Raymond Winford Saulsbury 1898–1924; Inez Neva Saulsbury 1901–1988; and Verna Salsbury 1905–1980.

The 1910 United States Federal Census revealed that David had rented a farm with house near the small farming community of Lucerne, Kings Co., California and he was a general farmer. Seven of their eight known children were still at home. The boys were old enough to help on the farm.

March 13, 1911 was a sad day, David's father Thomas Saulsbury passed away in San Jose, Santa Clara Co., California. Another sad day was Aug. 13,1920 when David's mother passed away in Santa Clara County, California.

Christmas was interrupted with the passing of David Saulsbury in Arroyo Grande, California. Jane gathered her family and friends at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery to bid her beloved David a fond farewell. Six years later Jane Becket Saulsbury passed away on Jan. 6, 1936 in Arroyo Grande. She was buried next to her dear David where they both "Rest in Peace."
