Dorothy Larsen Rowland, our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away April 23, 2013, at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier, Idaho.

She was born July 14, 1924, in Rigby, Idaho, the fifth child of Irene Pearl Call Larsen and Ephraim Larsen. Siblings: Calvin Ephraim Larsen (1916-1992), Thama [Larsen] Pugmire/Brown (1917-1997) Mathew Eric Larsen (1919-1987), Ross Call Larsen (1922-1997), Ardith Larsen (1926-1928) DeEsta [Larsen] Windley/Rousey (1928-2020) and Shirley [Larsen] Salvesen (1931-2020)When Dorothy was six months old, the family moved to Ririe, where she spent her childhood. Upon her graduation from Ririe High School, she moved to Montpelier, to work and live with her older sister Thama Pugmire to help with the family. During this time, she met Charles Arthur Rowland on a blind date. They were married September 21, 1943, in the Logan Temple.

Art was employed at the family owned Montpelier Laundry and Dry Cleaning where Dorothy later worked. To this union were born five children, Linda Joan (Terry) Leavitt, Charlotte (Gary) Thomas, Charles Ronald (Ramona) Rowland, Brian Thomas (Julia) Rowland, and Dorothy Marian (Albert) Van Dyke.

Art passed away on June 29, 1972. After his death, Dorothy was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad where she was a clerk/telegrapher from September 1973 to her retirement in July 1989.

Dorothy was a professional seamstress and an excellent cook and homemaker. She was very thoughtful and kind in remembering special occasions in other's lives.

Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed serving in all the organizations but particularly in the single adult special interest group.

Dorothy is survived by her children and their spouses; 30 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, five great-great- grandchildren; her sisters, Shirley Salvesen and DeEsta Rousey, sister-in-law Ruby Bischoff Rowland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Calvin Larsen, Matthew Larsen, Ross Larsen and sisters, Ardith Larsen and Thama Larsen Pugmire Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, April 27, at the Montpelier First-Fourth Ward Church. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral services. The church house is located at 485 South 7th Street in Montpelier, Idaho.
