Shirley Larsen was born 24 November 1931 at her parents home in Ririe, Jefferson, Idaho. She is the youngest of the eight children born to Ephraim Larsen and Irene Pearl [Call] Larsen. Siblings: Calvin Ephraim Larsen (1916-1992), Thama [Larsen] Pugmire/Brown (1917-1997) Mathew Eric Larsen (1919-1987), Ross Call Larsen (1922-1997), Dorothy [Larsen] Rowland (1924-2013), Ardith Larsen (1926-1928) and DeEsta [Larsen] Windley/Rousey (1928-2020). Shirley was blessed 3 July 1932 by Albert C. Perry. She was raised in Ririe and attended schools there graduating from Ririe High School in 1949. She was married to Gordon Criddle Salvesen (1926-1999) on November 11, 1950 by Bishop Alvin C. Tueller in Montpelier, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple for time and eternity on 2 March 1965. They made their home in Downey, Idaho. Shirley and Gordon were the parents of five children; Gordon Larsen Salvesen (1951-1951), Lana [Salvesen] Fink/Balis, Kristy [Salvesen] Condie/Arnold (1955-2018), Rocky Criddle Salvesen and Kurt Orville Salvesen. Shirley worked as the food service manager for Marsh Valley Hospital for 20 years.

Shirley was a member to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints and held multiple callings. She was also a gifted artist and wood worker making various crafts. She always said her family was her greatest joy.

Shirley passed away peacefully in her sleep at her son, Rocky's home on Monday, 27 July 2020.

She is survived by her children Lana (Doug) Balis, Rocky (Evie) Salvesen, Kurt Salvesen, a sister DeEsta Rousey, all of Downey, Idaho. 8 Grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, three sisters, her husband, son and daughter, a son-in-law and grandson.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family held a private memorial service followed by a burial at the Downey Cemetery.
