Mary's obituary stated that she "had been a citizen of Floyd county for more than sixty years and a faithful member of the Pleasant Hope Baptist church for more than a century [sic]. Mrs. Mary Dobbs, 87 years old, died Sunday at 4:30 A.M., after a long illness."

"Mary was preceeded [sic] in death by her husband, J. B. Dobbs, who died 21 years ago. Surviving is one son, Curtis M. Dobbs, of South Lindale with whom she had made her home for 15 years, and three daughters: Mrs. E. O. Mull, South Lindale; Mrs. J. C. Watkins [sic], Hartwell [sic], Ala.; and Mrs. C. C. Campton, of Wax. Twenty-six grandchildren and more than a dozen great grand children survives."

"Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 P.M. from the Pleasant Hope Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. J. E. Smith, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Johnson. Buriel [sic] was in the Pleasant Hope Cemetery, Floyd County, Georgia."

"The following grandsons, and grand sons-in-laws, acted as pallbearers: Ira Shamblin, John Burkhalter, J. V. Dobbs, Preston Mull, Horace Compton and Elmer Mull."
