Mr. Shivers

Mr. Elton Shivers, 62 of Route one, Zebulon, died early this morning at the Griffin-Spalding County Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Shivers was a lifelong resident of Pike County, son of the late Charlie Franklin Shivers and the late Ada Green Shivers. He was employed for 20 years in the dye plant of Lowell Bleachery and for the past 20 years he has been employed by Southern States Equipment Co., at Hampton. Mr Shivers was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Talma Pritchard Shivers; three sons, all members of the Georgia State Patrol, Cpl. William Shivers, Trooper Larry Shivers, both of Zebulon, and Trooper Wayne Shivers of Warm Springs; six sisters, Mrs. Nina Perkins, Mrs. Florence Goetz Plummer, both of Griffin, Mrs. Inez Snider, Mrs. George Smith, both of Milner, Mrs. J.F. Davis of Zebulon and Mrs. Harold Vaughn of Experiment; three brothers, Eugene Shivers, W.D. Shivers of Milner and Charlie F Shivers, Jr., of Griffin; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from New Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. Earl Howard and the Rev. Jerry Bryant will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Haisten Funeral Home until carried to the church to lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.
