She was born May 4, 1923, the daughter of Allen and Gladys (Adams) James. She married Jack Simpson on March 7, 1944. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1977. She later married Louis R. Beltramini. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Surviving are her children, Jack (Terry) Simpson of Sherman, Ill., Fred (Judy) Simpson of Reedsburg, Wis., Richard Simpson of Washington, Ill., Karen (Brian) Granados of Chillicothe and Jeffery Simpson of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her siblings, William "Bill" James, Opal Westerman, Betty Crose, Frank (Barb) James, Joyce (Jack) King, Earl (Debbie) James and Jim (Linda) James, all of Chillicothe.
She was preceded in death by one son, William "Barry" Simpson; one daughter, Rose Simpson; two brothers, Richard James and Earl James; and one sister, Norm Griffis.
Mary graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1941. She worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 25 years. She was a member of the VFW Post 4999 Auxiliary in Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Rev. Ray Harrison will officiate. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
