Earl L. James, 65, of 1806 N. Cutright died at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at his residence. Born Jan. 5, 1934, in Chillicothe to Allen and Gladys James, he married Barbara Forney on Feb. 1, 1971, in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Rick of Pekin; three stepsons, Bill Smiley and Ronald Smiley, both of Arizona, and David Smiley of Spokane, Wash.; two daughters, Vicki Bennett of Pekin and Jessica James of Missouri; five brothers, Richard of Utah and Bill, Frank, Jim and Vern, all of Chillicothe; four sisters, Opal Westerman, Mary Beltramini, Betty Crose and Joyce King, all of Chillicothe; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death.
