Roger Stanley Bergstrom, 94, of Waseca, Minn., formerly of Kelliher, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Lake Shore Inn of Waseca.

He was born on May 14, 1917 to Alex and Claudia (Lundberg) Bergstrom in Miltona, Minn. He attended Kelliher Schools and went on to attend Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He married Martha Reeve Aug. 6, 1939. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Intrepid during World War II from March 1944 until his honorable discharge Oct. 31, 1945. He worked for Nasvik Construction in Bemidji, Moline Construction in Jamestown, N.D., and for many years building homes with his brother in the Bemidji area. The last several years of his career he travelled throughout the United States as a consultant for Major Media Company of Eden Prairie. Following the death of his wife Martha, he married Hilda Kanewischer June 4, 1993. They made their home in Waseca where they attended Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, bird watching, sports, playing scrabble and singing.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda; daughters, Sandy (Darrel) Brown of Akeley, Donna Rae (Bob) Gosh of Woodbury and Casa Grande, Arizona, and Janice Crawford of Ajo, Arizona; stepson Ron (Mary) Kanewischer of Waseca; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Hamman and Millie Reich, both of Santa Paula, Calif., Zella (Bernard) Pfitzer of Marina, Calif., Amy Gerla of Boise, Idaho, and Jeanette Parks of Okanogan, Wash.; brothers Dwight (Pat) Bergstrom of Olympia, Wash., Archie (Kris) Bergstrom of Puyallup, Wash., and Philip (Vivian) Bergstrom of Akeley, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; daughter Gwen Condon; brothers, John, Luman, Kenneth and Donald; and sisters, Violet and Rose.
