Alvin Theodore Romero, age 43, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 in Garita, NM. Alvin was born on May 11, 1953 in Las Vegas, NM, he had been a rancher in Garita at the Hage and Webb Land and Cattle Company for 25 years. Alvin was a member of the Center Street United Methodist Church. Alvin grew up in Trujillo, NM and attended Roberson High School in Las Vegas. Alvin was a member of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and a member of the United States Team Roping Championships, where he was an avid competitor. Alvin is survived by his wife, Missie, children, Maranda, Christina, Juliana, Sara, Olana and Alvin Chance, all of Tucumcari and Garita, his father, Pedro Romero, brothers, Dan Romero of Trujillo, Fred Romero and his companion, Pam, Nick Romero and his wife, Corrine, all of Las Vegas, NM, Jerry Romero and his wife, Penny of Dalhart, TX, Richard Romero of Springtown, TX and Louis Romero of Garden City, Kansas, sisters, Irene Martinez and her husband, Miguel of Las Vegas, NM, Sarah Quintana and her husband, Diego of Pecos, sister-in-laws, Dee Romero of Denver, Mary Lou Romero of Hereford, TX, mother-in-law, Carol Webb of Garita, sister-in-law, Laura McKinney and her husband, Arlan of Hartley, TX, brother-in-law, Larry Webb and his wife, Jennifer of Newkirk, NM. Alvin was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Little Angle Romero, mother, Sara Romero and brothers, Lee Romero and Herman Romero, father-in-law, Olan Webb and grandmother, Franciel Hage. Services are at 1:00 p.m. today in the Center Street United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Hage-Webb Cemetery in Garita, NM. Pallbearers will be Jerry Romero, Nick Romero, Fred Romero, Dan Romero, Richard Romero, Larry Webb and Arlen McKinney. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his nephews, family and friends. An educational fund for the children of Alvin Romero has been established at the Citizen's Bank, PO Box 1228, Tucumcari, NM.
