Madison Box, 87, of Midland, Texas, passed away on June 13, 2011 at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Fairmont Park Church of Christ with Scott Sheppard and Don Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
He was born on May 6, 1924 in Denton, Texas to John and Zola Box.
Madison graduated from Purvis High School then joined the United States Navy serving in World War II. He met and married the love of his life, Margie and they moved to Midland in the 1950s. He began his career in the oil industry working on the pipelines and then as a pumper. Madison was very in involved in his church and was a founding member and served as a deacon of Fairmont Park Church of Christ. He was a true cowboy and loved horses, lapidary, and silver crafting.
Survivors include, his son, Dickey Box and wife Sherron of Midland; two daughters, Carmen Pittman and husband Kent of Adairsville, GA, Quata Russell and husband Chris of Midland; a brother, Johnny Box and wife Arlene of Azle, Texas; a sister Gene Maikell of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren, Ty, Toby and Tad Box, Roxanne Weinzel, Wayne Howland, Amanda Hall, Candice Baker, Aaric Pittman, and Chaille Sullivan; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
