Pratt Bacon Died Last Thursday

M. Pratt Bacon,96,died last Thursday at home in Glennville after a long illness.

The Tattnall County native was a former member of the Tattnall County Board of Education. He had been a farmer for 75 years before retiring in 1983. He was also chosen as Soil Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1956. He attended Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are a half-sister, Mildred Dechemaux of Anderson, S.C.; and seven nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. last Sunday at Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Gary Johnson and Elder Tim Lewis. Burial was in the Beard's Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Larry Banks, Ed Banks, Bruce Durrence, Cliff Stubbs and Dan Stubbs and Brian Durrence.

Honorary pallbearers were G.L. Durrence, Elbert Kicklighter, Tommy Love, Charlie Strickland, Robert Dubberly, Walter Weitman, Vernon Dasher, Jr., Edward Dasher, Ted Kicklighter, Dane Bazemore, Earl Waters, and Deryle Dasher.

Rimes Mortuary of Glennville was in charge of arrangement.
