Samuel Fraser was born May 31, 1890, near Concordia. Kansas. He died in November 22, 1972, in Salina, Kansas.

Father Fraser was ordained to the Catholic priesthood in 1914 after studies at Louvain, Belgium. For 30 years beginning in 1929 he served pastorates at Minneapolis, Kansas, St. Joseph near Clyde, Kansas, Aurora, Kansas and St. John's Church, Beloit, Kansas.

Msgr. Fraser was temporary administrator of the Roman Catholic diocese of Salina from May, 1957 to January, 1958, after the death of Bishop F. A. Thill.

Msgr. Fraser retired from the active ministry in 1966 and lived in Salina. He served on the diocesan board of consultors, as dean of the Beloit deanery and regional
chaplain of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Msgr. Fraser also was an amateur naturalist and donated his collection of Kansas plants and seeds to Marymount college.

Survivors included a brother, Jesse Fraser and a sister, Sister Evelyn Fraser, CSJ.
