US Congressman. He enlisted in the Confederate Army and served in the Army of Virginia throughout the Civil War, attaining the rank of Colonel of the 13th Virginia Artillery Battalion. He was admitted to the Louisiana bar in 1872, and commenced the practice of law in Vidalia, Louisiana. He was elected to the United States Congress from Louisiana, and served from 1879 to 1887. He was the son of United States Representative Thomas Butler King.
