Wanda Lee Breshears Almon went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 18, surrounded by her family that loved her dearly. She was born in Morris, Oklahoma, October 6, 1928 to Wilma and Claude Breshears. While those were difficult years to be a young child during The Depression, those experiences contributed to her strength of character, personality and loving spirit. In March 1948, she married the love of her life, Jabez W. Almon. During their sixty years of marriage, she worked side by side with him as he served as Pastor of several churches throughout Oklahoma. In addition to being a wonderful Pastor's wife and mother, she served as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, and any other duties that needed to be done. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and Claude Breshears, husband Reverend Jabez W. Almon, brothers Ray Breshears, Brooklyn Breshears, Cecil Breshears and sister, Lorraine Baros. She is survived by her daughter Dixie Rider and husband Jerry, Purcell, son Stephen Almon and wife Connie, Jones, and brothers R.C. Breshears of Oklahoma City, Elmo Breshears of Corpus Christi, Texas, sister-in-law Flo Breshears, Leaky, Texas, brother-in-law Jerry Baros, Corpus Christi, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews, and seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Wanda loved spending time with her grandchildren, Misti, Buffy, Haley, Casey, Lori, Joie and Jamie and was blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren, Torie, Joey, Brian, Steven, Luke, Lane, Tiffany, Taegan, Kyle, Daniel, Christopher, Garret, Savannah, Alex, Gracie, Amanda and Catherine. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with such a giving spirit. While we all miss having the opportunity to spend time with her, we are assured that we will one day see her again as Christ our Lord has assured us. Services will be Friday, July 22, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home with interment at Little Cemetery, Little, Oklahoma.
