Della I. Apodaca - Pueblo Chieftain - June 27, 1997 - Della I. Apodaca, 69, of Pueblo, went to be with the Lord on June 25, 1997, after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 13, 1928, in Walsenburg.
Preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Matthew Apodaca- her parents, Maclovia and Silverio Castro- brothers, Felix and Eloy Castro- sisters, Eva Meehan, Dora Torres, Florence Florez, and Bernice Gomez.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Walter Apodaca- children, Kathy (Joe) Trujillo, Geri (LeRoy) Arellano, Theresa (Steve) Sanchez, all of Pueblo, Anita (Vince) Trujillo of Fort Collins, Walter Anthony (Sally) Apodaca of Beulah, Ed (Sandra) Apodaca, and Robert Apodaca of Denver- sisters, Marie Mascarenas of Commerce City, Nellie (Gerald) Berumen of Rocky Ford, and Agnes (Conrad) Moya of Fort Collins.
She is also survived by 18 grandchildren- 11 great-grandchildren- numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She enjoyed singing and worship at Good Shepherd Church of which she was a member for more than 20 years.
Funeral service will be held at Praise Assembly of God, 2000 Troy, at 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Robert T. Montoya officiating.
Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. Due to Della's request, there will be no viewing.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Dr. Tom Smith for all their help and support during Della's illness.
