At that time, 1923 Ash Grove was building their new Cement Plant at Chanute . Ash Grove was buying the Farm land west of Chanute for the "THICK" layer of Limestone that laid beneath the Farm land which "ANGERED" the Farmers in the area. As a Public Relations move, Ash Grove sent a person to Europe & bought a year old Perc heron Stallion Horse & brought the Horse back to Chanute for the Farmers in the area to Breed their Mare's too, so the Farmers would have Larger horses to farm with. Joseph P. Russell 2nd. was hired to be the care taker of that Stallion.
Ash Grove is still Manufacturing Cement from that Limestone today 98Years later. (8-2021)
