Ralph Frank Russell was born to Joesph & Mary (Gieger) Russell on July 7,1891 North of Altoona, Ks.on the family farm. He was united in Marriage to Bessie Chole Hurley on Sept. 18, 1913 in Fredonia, Ks To this marriage was born a daughter, Betty Katheryn on March 28 1926 in Chanute, Ks. Ralph & Bessie farmed 2 miles west of where Ralph was born their entire life, 1/4 Mi. south of High Prairie Cemetery. Ralph was a member of Altoona Masonic Lodge #118 AF&AM of Kansas.
Ralph was extremely proud of his Matched team of horses and their harness. During the slow times in farming he would take his team of horses and hire out to work in the oil fields moving Drilling Rigs and assorted equipment in various area's of S. E. Kansas during the early yrs. of the oil boom in S.E. Kansas.
