PATRICK CAHILL PASSES AWAY
Dies From Ills Incident to Old Age at The Home of His Son, Michael J. Cahill, on Saturday Evening, the Fourteenth
FUNERAL HELD ON MONDAY

In the death of Mr. Patrick Cahill, which occurred on Saturday last at about eight o'clock in the evening, this community loses one of its pioneer citizens, a man who in his time bore the burdens that were imposed upon the early settlers with extreme fortitude and who in his life ever exhibited the traits of the just and the good man that he was. Coming here in an early day he bore no inconspicuous part in subduing the soil and in building up a substantial community whose chief glory was the exemplification of correct ideals as to civic and religious life. Upon this basis his life work was erected and he now goes to his long home honored among men on account of his just life and sincerely mourned by all who have felt the impulse of his personality.
A man of robust health all his life, Mr. Cahill did not begin to decline until the infirmities of age began to tell upon him. A year or more ago, his health failed, but his spirit of good nature and geniality remained. Some weeks ago he left his home in the village and was taken to the house of his son where kindly ministrations p0aved the pathway with pleasant things to the end.
Mr. Cahill was born in the county of Kilkenny, Ireland, August 17th, 1832, He came to this country when a young man and settled in Iowa. Later he came to Minnesota, in company with his brother, Thomas Cahill, now deceased, and settled on the farm three miles northwest of this place where he continued to reside until he came to this place. Forty-nine years ago he was married to Margaret Hogan who survives him, together with one son, Michael J. Cahill. He was a brother of the late Thos. Cahill, who passed away some moths ago, and also of John and Richard Cahill, now deceased. His only surviving brother is Wm., Cahill of this place.
The funeral was largely attended on Monday morning at Saint Ann's Catholic Church, Rev. Father P. J. Condron, officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
