Eugene R. Libby
Private services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Mortuary for Eugene R. Libby, 96, who died at his home, 1760 NE Irving St., Sunday. Libby was born at Hopkinton, Iowa, Jan. 4, 1864. In 1900 he and his family moved to California, and he operated a fruit orchard at Corning. He later moved to Berkeley and lived there until 1920, when he moved to Salem and operated an orchard. He moved to Portland in 1934. He married Matilda Libby in Iowa. She died in 1943 [sic, January of 1944]. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bertha L. Hughes of Palo Alto, California, and Mrs. Myrtle L. Brown of Portland. The body will be buried privately at the Rose City cemetery.
