Obituary
Evelyn Libby was born at Hopkinton, Delaware County, Iowa, December 9, 1870, and died at Arnolds Park December 14, 1933, aged 63 years, 5 days. She moved with her family to Cherokee county in 1882 and most of the rest of her life was spent with that county as her home. She taught school for three or four years before she married L. W. McClain, who was the practicing physician at Larrabee. In a few years he changed to Washta where he practiced medicine until his health became so poor that he sold out and for sixteen years they spent their winters in a warm climate, mostly at St. Petersburg, Fla., and their summers at Arnolds Park, making a month or two stop in Cherokee county, both spring and fall. In 1918 the Libbys and Dr. McClain bought two acres of Billy Baker and put up summer cottages side by side. After Dr. McClain died they occupied the two cottages together.

Evelyn became a Christian at an early age and has always been a faithful member. When any of the family were in doubt on a moral or spiritual problem, she was always asked for her opinion and when she had quietly expressed her views, it was considered by all of them as final.

In the last two years of her life and even in the last six weeks of intense suffering, her room was a place of Peace. One could not help but think of the verse: "Thou wilt keep him in Perfect Peace whose mind is stayed on Thee."

Those of the family who have not gone before are Eugene Libby of Salem, Ore.; Mrs. Phelps, of Winner, S.D.; and the family here, Wilbur Libby, Rossie Libby, Mrs. Florence Hardy and Annette Libby and a few nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held in the Friends church on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock conducted by Rev. Theodore Foxworthy after which interment was made in the local cemetery.
