Death of James Reagor
James Reagor (colored), 57 years old, died early Wednesday morning at his home in this city. He has been an invalid for a number of years. His son, Roy Reagor, is employed at the cement plant. He also leaves two daughters. His wife died in 1914. James was a brother of "Pomp" Reagor, one of the best amateur pitchers in this section thirty-five years ago. He was the colored Walter Johnson of this section. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at the Poplar Grove church. Burial in Mount Hope.

James Reagor, son of Pleas and Rachel Reagor was born June 20, 1869 in Waxahachie, Texas. His father died when he was small. When he was quite young he moved with his mother and step father to Humboldt, Kansas, and resided in Salem township where he worked for Monroe Neal for several years. Later he moved to the city and was united in marriage in November 1889, to Matenda Burgess (Malinda) His wife died twelve years ago. To this union was born three children. He has been in ill health for about two years and the last year he was confined to his room. Although his suffering was intensem he bore it patiently, always ready to greet his friends with a smile and say, "I feel pretty good." He was well liked among both races, was a loyal citizen, always ready to help uplift his race. Everything that could be done to alleviate his suffering was freely given, but to no avail. He passed away Wednesday morning, October 13. He was 57 years old. He leaves to mourn his loss three children, Mrs Stella Cheney, Roy Reager and Mrs. Lola Landrum. Thirteen grandchildren, two sisters in Texas, one in Humboldt, Mary Sweatt. Four brothers in California and one in Oklahoma, several nephews and neices and sorrowing friends.

Miss Gertrude Dixon of Waxahachie, Texas and Mack Burgess of Cherryvale, Kans., came here to attend the funeral.
