C. Durrand Alexander, 86, formerly a long time resident of Franklindale, PA. died early Friday morning, March 3, 1995, at the Leader South Nursing Home, Williamsport, Pa. Born July 24, 1908, in Monroe Township, Pa., he was a son of the late Earl and Mertie Jennings Alexander. Mr. Alexander owned and operated the family farm in Franklindale for his entire life, and also served as secretary/treasurer of Franklin Township for over 20 years. He also drove school bus for the Towanda Area School district for over 20 years. He was a 50-year member of Iona Grange No. 272, Franklindale, and a member of the Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative.

Surviving are: three sons; Dean F. Alexander of Galion, Ohio, Lee D. Alexander of Macedonia, and Wayne J. Alexander of Montgomery RR 2, Pa.; a daughter, Shirley Mezner of Webster, Mass.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters; Gladys Cole of Burlington and Maude Drislane of Troy; a brother, Claude Alexander of Towanda RR 3; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Cole Alexander, on July 25, 1981; and a son, Lyle Alexander, on Oct. 14, 1994.

The funeral and committal service will be held Sunday, March 5, 1995 at 4 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral home, 217 York Ave., Towanda. Interment will be in the Franklin Center Cemetery, Franklin Township, Pa. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. –Towanda Daily Review.
