Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Waldon Honea, age 90, of Fayetteville will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Gay and Rev. Billy Langford officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Cemetery. Mr. Honea passed away Saturday evening at Lincoln Medical Center.

He was a native of Madison County, AL and the son of the late Ernest and Raybon Fanning Honea. Mr. Honea was a Medical Tech in the US Army during WW II and was on the second Honor Flight from Huntsville, AL in September 2008 and never tired of talking with people about the flight.

He was retired purchasing agent with Lincoln County Hospital, former Deacon at Kirkland Baptist Church and member of Prospect Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Carrie Hollis Honea of Fayetteville, two sons Kenneth Honea and wife Patsy of Taft and Larry Honea and wife Charlene of Maine, daughter Debbie Sydnes and husband Jim of Fayetteville, two brothers Glen Honea of Madison TN, and Winfred Honea and wife Dean of Flintville, three sisters Evelyn Holder and husband Don of Clarksville, Eva Pendergrass and husband Harvie of Clarksville and Linda Mabry and husband John of Huntsville, sisters-in-law Marbrey Honea of Flintville and Melba Honea of Goodlettsville, TN, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Honea was preceded in death by brothers E. W. James and Wayne and two sisters Louise Moon and Agnes Gothard.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the American Heart Association or Charity of ones choice.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
