T.W. Witwer, known in South Bend, died at 3 o'clock this morning in his home in Glenellyn, Ill., following an illness developing from hardening of the arteries and Bright's disease. Funeral services will be held in Joliet, Ill., his former home, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be in that city.
Mr. Witwer was born in Ashland, O., and was 77 years of age. His parents, Elder and Mrs. Witwer, were well known in South Bend in the earlier days, residing at the southeast corner of Sample street and Prairie avenue. He was treasurer of the Joliet Manufacturing company in Joliet, retiring two years ago. Soon after he went to San Francisco, Calif., where he resided for about a year and a half. Later he moved to Glenellen. Mr. Witwer's wife was Miss Addie Hall, of this city, their marriage taking place in 1883.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons and two daughters. The sons are J. Hall Witwer, Maywood, Ill., and Henry W. Witwer, Glenellyn. The daughters are Mrs. Haig Shekerjian, Oak Park, Ill., and Miss Elizabeth Witwer of San Francisco. Three brothers survive. They are George M. Witwer, of this city; Frank Witwer, of Kansas City, Mo., and Harvey Witwer, of Greeley, Colo."
