She was born in Delta City on Sept. 25, 1912, to James A. and Etta Richardson Boykin, where she graduated from Catchings High School. She later graduated from Sunflower Junior College (now Mississippi Delta Community College). She taught in the public schools in Holly Bluff, Delta City and Chatham. On Nov. 27, 1937, she married Leo Fontaine Williams and moved to Washington County in 1943.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church, the Longwood Community Culture Club and served for many years on the state board of the Mississippi Federated Women's Clubs.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Leo F. Williams, in 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane W. Simmons of Hollandale; a son, Leo F. Williams Jr. of Hollandale; three sisters, Adrene B. Hollingsworth of Hollandale, Juantia [sic Juanita] B. Bishop of Baton Rouge, La., and Margaret B. Patterson of Delta City; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Avon United Methodist Church or the United Methodist Hour of Mississippi.
