William Monroe Boykin, 45, of 1483 West Ollie Circle, a transport driver for Dixie Gas Company, died in King's Daughters Hospital at 9:55 p.m. Tuesday night after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Methodist Church in Delta City by the Rev. R. T. Woodard, pastor of Grace Methodist Church of Greenville. Burial will be in Vickland Cemetery. National Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Boykin was born at Delta City. He lived most of his life in Sharkey County where he engaged in farming. He moved to Greenville 10 years ago. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Ida B. Boykin; two daughters, Betty Ann Boykin and Carrie Etta Boykin and a son, William Monroe Boykin Jr., all of Greenville; a brother, James A. Boykin Jr. of Delta City; and five sisters, Mrs. L. F. Williams and Mrs. Thomas Hollingsworth, both of Hollandale, Miss Edith Boykin of Rolling Fork, Mrs. F. W. Bishop Jr., of Baton Rouge, La., and Mrs. W. E. Patterson Jr., of Delta City.

The active pallbearers include Douglas Boykin, DeLoach Cope, Carl Seal, T. D. Boykin Jr., M. P. Neff Jr., Merlin Richardson.

The honorary pallbearers will be employes of Dixie Gas Company.
