Funeral services for Henry Van Ryn of Austin were held Saturday, March 18 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault, with Father Charles Quinn officiating. David Hansen and Richard Van Ryn, grandsons of the deceased, served at the Funeral Mass. Pallbearers were James Michael, Donald Van Ryn, Peter Sterling, George Van Ryn, Robert Hambright and Mark Hansen, all grandsons of Mr. Van Ryn. Interment was at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Henry Van Ryn was born Feb. 27, 1880 to Geradus and Johanna Van Ryn in the Netherlands. He came with his parents from the Netherlands in 1880 and lived on a farm in Walcott Township until 1948. He attended St. Lawrence School in Faribault and was active in farm, school and community activities. In 1903, Mr. Van Ryn and Mary Van Berkom were united in marriage at White Earth, N.D. He farmed in Walcott Township ---------Hansens. They moved to ____in 1951. Mr. Van Ryn was a member of the St. Lawrence Church, the KC's and the Holy Name Society in Faribault and a member of St. Augustine Church in Austin. He passed away March 16 at the age of 87 years, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, after a lingering illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1926, one daughter, Marion in 1930, two sons, Philip in 1910 and George in 1944, World War II; four sisters, Mrs. Phil Durland, Mrs. Frank Van Leur, Mrs. Wallace Zimmerman and Mrs. Arnold Van Berkom. Mr. Van Ryn is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Josephine) Michael, Mrs. Roger (Adella) Sterling, Mrs. Leo C. (Joanne) Hansen and Miss Veronica Van Ryn, all of Austin; four sons, August and Ralph of Faribault, John of Kirkland, Wash., and Walter of Austin; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends from away at the funeral were from Hawaii; Kirkland, Wash.; Topeka, Kan.; Minneapolis; Mankato; Owatonna; Manly, Iowa; Des Moines, Iowa; Milwaukee and Madison, Wis.; and Winona.
