Job Stockton, a son of Abigail (nee ___?___ ) and Richard Stockton (c.1635-1707), was born in about 1676 in Flushing, Long Island, New York. His father, Richard, now known as Richard "The Emigrant" Stockton, was living in Flushing by 1657 when he was one of the 30 brave souls who signed the Flushing Remonstrance.

"that the tract of land purchased by Richard Stockton in West Jersey was originally known by the Indian name of An-na-nicken; that it was over two miles in length and one in width; and that the mansion house of the late James Shreve is on the site of the house built and occupied by Mr. Stockton until his death."

The Richard Stockton estate is in what is now Springfield Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. Richard purchased this property from George Hutchinson. It is located on Annaricken Brook, also known as Annaniken, Oneanickon, Oneakiekon, and An-na-nicken. There are now horse farms located on what was Richard Stockton's and later Job Stockton's property.

Will of Richard "The Emigrant" Stockton
In the name of God, Amen:
I, Richard Stockton, being sick and weak of body but sound of memory, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following . . . I give to my son Job my plantation and all the improvements with four hundred ackers of land to him and to his heires and assignes forever, not to possess it till the decease of my wife . . . I give to my dear wife Abigail . . .

Note: The will of Job Stockton, Jr., dated "1732, 21st day, 9th mo. (Nov.)" mentions "the plantation given me by my deceased father." Job Stockton, Sr., died after the date of his will (July 29, 1728) but before the November 21, 1732, date of Job Stockton, Jr.'s will.
