SERVICES HELD TUESDAY FOR VICTOR BASCOM
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m at the Jensen LDS Ward Chapel for Victor L. Bascom, 57, who died Friday morning near Sanders, Arizona, when he fell from a ladder while working for a seismograph crew of the Elder Leasing and Equipment Co. of Denver.
Prayer at the mortuary was given by President Frank R. Walker.
Funeral services were conducted by Bishop Nerrill Snow. Prelude and postlude music was played by Jean Murray. The invocation was given by Alvin Weeks.
"Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" was sung by Corwin Snow accompanied by Naomi Dudley. First speaker was Curt Dudley and the second speaker was B. H. Stringham. Merle Morse played "The Old Rugged Cross" on the violin accompanied by Doris Rich. Chellus Caldwell and Floyd Hall sang "Home on the Range" accompanied by Floyd Hall on the guitar.
Benediction was given by Wade Slaugh and his nephew Gene Weeks dedicated the grave. Burial was in the Vernal Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ferris and Jimmy Murray, Lynn, Wayne and Jimmy Holmes and Harry AuMiller.
Survivors include the widow, a son, Boyd, both of Jensen; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Colleen) Cross, Vernal; eight grandchildren, two brothers, Roy and Lewellyn, both of Idaho Falls and a sister, Mrs. Cleo Marshall of West Yellowstone, Montana.
Mr. Bascom was born September 6, 1906 in Vernal to William H. and Mary Lockes Bascom. He married Gladys Holmers in Vernal and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had been a member of the sheepherders union for nearly 40 years.
