C. M. Schimmel dies; last rites planned today

Charles Manson Schimmel, 82, a retired farmer of the Boyleston community, Frankfort rt. 3, died at 5:15 o'clock Sunday morning at the Clinton County Hospital. His health had been failing for five years.

Mr. Schimmel had moved to the Boyleston community from Carroll County when he was a small child, and had spent the rest of his life in that area.

He was born in Carroll County on June 16, 1885, the son of Lewis and Sarah Michael Schimmel.

His first wife, Mrs. Goldie B. Howe Schimmel, to whom he was married Nov 20, 1906, died Feb. 4, 1941. His second wife Mrs. Mary Walker Schimmel died Dec 17, 1951. They were married in 1941.

Mr. Schimmel is survived by one son, Max E. Schimmel of Frankfort rt. 1; three daughters, Mrs. Roxie Patchett, of Frankfort rt. 6, Mrs. Mildred Massey of Frankfort and Mrs. Dorothy Cambridge of Frankfort rt. 3; one sister, Mrs. Amanda Thatcher of Frankfort rt. 7; a brother Ralph Schimmel of Glendora, Calif; 13 grandchildren and nine stepchildren. A son, Walter, died in 1958, and four brothers and four sisters also preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Mr. Schimmel will be held at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Goodwin Funeral Home, with Rev. George A. Snavely officiating, and burial will be made in the Whiteman Cemetery.

It was announce that friends may call at the funeral home prior to the hour of the services.
