He was born in Carroll County Oct. 30, 1926, to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jefferson Alley.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Niriel Alley;
children and spouses, Clifton Alley, Guyda and Johnny Melton, Jerrell and Linda Alley, all of Galax, Sue and Kenneth Green of Woodlawn;
step son and his wife, Cleve and Mildred Sawyers of Woodlawn;
10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Myron Dalton officiating.
Burial followed in the Alley Cemetery.
