Elias and Susanna were the parents of four known children, three girls and one boy. Three of the children lived to maturity. The four children were namely:
1. Harriet Lucinda Butner (1855-1861)
2. Antoinette Felicia Butner Fogle (1856-1900)
2. Thaddeus Marion Butner (1860-1937)
3. Mary Elias Butner Starbuck (1863-1951)
