The father of two Montpelier residents, Joseph W. Hensley, 91, Upland, died at 12:14 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Survivors include Wanda (Tom) Jones and Marilyn (Kevin) Lavanchy, both of Montpelier.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Jones-Smith Funeral Home in Upland. Calling hours there are today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Burial at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.

Preferred memorials are to Heritage Pointe or Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.

Joseph Warren Hensley, 91, passed away at 12:14 a.m. Saturday morning at Heritage Pointe, Warren.

He married Nola "Helen" (Travis). She preceded him in death June 18, 1990.

He was born in Greeneville, Tenn. The son of the late Franco and Ella (Hopson) Hensley and attended Greeneville Schools.

He was a veteran of WW II and a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He was in the Army serving Sept. 25 1940 – June 30, 1945 with Company B 4th Engineers Battalion.

He. had been a local resident since 1948 moving from Greeneville, Tenn. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #10, Marion, AMVETS, and VFW, Gas City.

Mr. Hensley enjoyed upholstering furniture and had been employed with the patient care at the Indiana Northern Regional Veteran's hospital, Marion for over 25 years retiring in 1975.

Survivors include three sons, Paul (Pam) Hensley, Upland, Joseph (Piper) Hensley, Liberty, Texas, Leonard (Peggy) Hensley, Losantville; tow three daughters, Wanda (Tom) Jones, Montpelier, Marilyn (Kevin) Lavanchy, Montpelier, Rosa (Clyde) Kaemmerer, Piqua, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren;

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Hensley.
