William Lindsay
Lexington -- William C. Lindsay, 85, of 102 W. South St., a retail store owner who retired about 15 years ago, died at 3:45 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital Medical Center, Bloomington.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ, Uniting, the Rev. Leigh Earley officiating. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Musselman Funeral Home.
Mr. Lindsay was born Sept. 2, 1895, in Lexington, a son of William C. and Josephine Elder Lindsay. He married Kathryn Flesher May 18, 1917, in Lexington. She died in March 1975.
Surviving are a son, William C. Lindsay Jr., Pontiac; a daughter, Mildred Sharp, Birmingham, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A daughter, brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Lindsay was a member of the Church of Christ, Uniting. He was a 50-year member of Lexington Masonic Lodge 483, the Bloomington Consistory and the Peoria Shrine.
He attended the University of Illinois and the Quincy Business College. He was a past president of the Lexington Community Club and a former Republican precinct committeeman and member of the Republican Central Committee.
He succeeded his father and grandfather in the retail business.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
