OBITUARY.

Amanda Elizabeth Adams, daughter of Squire William and Elizabeth Adams, was born in Monroe County, Indiana, November 12, 1860. She united with the Mt. Gilead Christian church at an early age, having always been a faithful member.

On August 26, 1876 she was united in marriage at the age of 16 to Andrew Wycoff. To them were born fourteen children, five having preceded her in death. The nine living children are as follows: one son, Alva of Russell Springs, Kansas; eight daughters, Mrs. Effie Thompson, Mrs. Olive Stringer, of Indianapolis, Mrs. Hazel Myers, Mrs. Zola Nevins, Mrs. Geneva Hash, Mrs. Lulu Krebbs, Mrs. Mabel Branam, Mrs. Elsie Branam, all of Bloomington.

Besides the children and devoted companion, she leaves 36 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Della Gray, of Indianapolis, and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Wycoff, with her companion had spent her entire life in and around near Mt. Gilead. When moving to this old home where she passed away, 49 years ago, at that time the house consisted of only two rooms, sitting in the midst of blackberry bushes, but by hand labor, little by little they gradually built it up to what it is today. Mrs. Wycoff's hobby seemed to be work as she never wanted to be idle, but always looking for something to do.

She spent some of her time in caring for her yard and flowers, which she loved. On Sunday morning she always sent her family of children to Sunday school. Mrs. Wycoff never seen a picture show, as she never cared for that sort of pleasure. She was very much devoted to her family, having them all together on different occasions. Last August Mr. and Mrs. Wycoff celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. She being in very good health at that time.

Three weeks ago Mrs. Wycoff took ill with pneumonia, but had entirely
recovered from it when other complications set it, which caused her to
depart from this world to that great beyond on Saturday morning, April 11 at 6:45 at the age of 75 years, 5 months. She was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery, where she spent much time in caring for the loved ones' graves, which had gone on before. Mrs. Wycoff was buried in her wedding petticoat, which had been made by hand and had twelve tiny pin tucks in the flounce.

"A happy home we once enjoyed,
We'll keep the memory still,
But death has left a loneliness
The world can never fill."
